Growing up on a farm in rural Alberta, I had a lot of time on my hands. I would stay up late and just think about being a star, creating stories in my head with myself at center stage. I would sit in my room for hours on end listening to music. Music is what kept me sane and I could go on a journey that took me so far from my tiny Canadian farm.
I remember the day I heard the girl group Wilson Phillips. I couldn’t wait to buy their cassette tape (yes I said cassette tape). I loved their album. I listened to that album more times than I care to admit. Somehow I felt like it was written for me, because those lyrics spoke to that little Canadian farm girl with big, big dreams. I still know every word every single song on that album.
Fast forward 15 years, and as the universe would have it, I have the opportunity to open for Wilson Phillips. OMG… Yes I was feeling over the moon by the prospect, but also filled with so many different emotions of sharing my own music on the big stage and also the cathartic experience of opening for a band that had once meant so very much for me.
The show was a great experience and Wilson Phillips were just a great and gracious group of fellow artists. I learned a lot that night and welcomed the experience. Still…Oh My Gosh Kim from Alberta, Canada opened for Wilson Phillips !!
