A Letter To My Younger Self

There’s a song by Brad Paisley that really resonates with me, it’s called “Letter to Me.” I have listened to this song many times. Each time it penetrates more deeply. As I listen to it, I’ve often thought about what I would say to my younger self in a letter. I think about the multitude of insecurities I carried, the things I worried about, the misbeliefs that felt so real. I wish I could hold my younger self and tell her that she's worthy exactly as she is, and that we are all in this together, all of us. I hope and pray my daughters always know how beautiful they are inside and out. I pray that they go easy on themselves. I pray that they invest in what is broadens their heart instead of what others want them to do. I pray that they know that everything shifts as long as we surrender. I pray they lead with love, because it's all that matters.

Here is my letter to my younger self:

As you read this letter, just remember you may be going through some difficult times, but they won’t last. You will have situations with friends that will hurt you and you will not understand why, but it’s meant to help your heart grow. Know that it’s not your fault ,and you can’t control others’ actions – it’s their own journey and they are going through their own things that may spill on to you. It's not personal, it's never personal.. Hold your head high, love yourself extra, and remember that you are amazing as you are. Remember your worth, always be kind and always know that you are love. Someday you’ll look back and wish you would have embraced standing out in a crowd, in your truth, instead of trying to fit in and be like everyone else.

You are going to feel like you’re never pretty enough or you’re never good enough, thats ok, just don't unpack your thoughts and stay there. The truth is this: You are beautiful from the inside out. You are talented and strong. You are confident in yourself and you are going to accomplish and do amazing things in your life.

The saying that you may have to kiss a few frogs before you find your prince is true in your life. You will find your prince and he will be everything that you could ever imagine and more. Remember when you were a little girl playing with your Barbie mansion and envisioning the perfect man to marry? All of that will come true and although life will always throw curves balls and trials at you, you’ll have a wonderful and happy life.

Love, your present self with all of your might, she needs it.
